Kyle Leopard, J.D. Joins Strategics Consulting Team

Kyle LeopardStrategics Consulting is proud to announce the addition of Kyle Leopard to the team as Government Affairs Advisor. Kyle is experienced in a broad array of legal, regulatory, environmental, and public policy issues. He is also a licensed attorney in North Carolina and South Carolina. 

Kyle is well-versed in the history and politics that shape public affairs using his prior experience as an attorney and at institutional and non-profit organizations with legal analysis, regulatory policy, and public infrastructure development. He joins Strategics Consulting to leverage his legal acumen and penchant for public affairs. 

Kyle grew up in Forsyth County, NC and received a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Alabama and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Shirley Speidell Joins Strategics Consulting Team

Shirley Speidell

Shirley Speidell is an independent consultant with over twenty-five years of experience in federal lobbying and Congressional staff work. Shirley has lobbied on behalf of local governments, American Indian tribes and water districts on issues ranging from water infrastructure, energy and environment to telecommunications, technology and taxation.

Her Capitol Hill experience includes working for U.S. Senators Susan Collins (ME) and Robert Packwood (OR), and U.S. Representative Linda Smith (WA). Shirley served as professional staff for a subcommittee of the House Committee on Science and Tech specializing in technology, environment, and energy issues. She also worked in the Oregon State Senate.

FAA Awards $9.3 Million Grant for Safety Improvements for Statesville Airport

May, 2019: The City of Statesville, NC, has been awarded a substantial federal investment by the Federal Aviation Administration in the Statesville Airport. This is just one example where Strategics made the difference. We brought the competitive grant opportunity to the City’s attention, worked with the City throughout the application process, developed and implemented the political strategy, communicated and coordinated with stakeholders and congressional offices, and more. Amy Kirschbaum, Government Affairs and Legislative Specialist

Amy KirschbaumStrategics Consulting is excited to announce the addition of Amy Ward Kirschbaum to the legislative team. Amy first began her career on Capitol Hill where she worked as a legislative aide in the office of the late Congressman E. Clay Shaw, Jr. from Florida. She also was primary staff for the U.S. Congressional Sunbelt Caucus, a bipartisan coalition of 150 Southerners in the House of Representatives. Her primary issues were the environment, energy and transportation.

Amy and Leslie first started working together in 1988 when Leslie was hired to be the Congressman’s receptionist. They have been friends ever since, with Amy even traveling all the way from Oregon to attend Leslie’s South Florida wedding to husband Hank in 1999. “In life you meet people where you have an opportunity to help change their lives, and then you meet people who help change yours. Amy is definitely the latter, and I could not be happier to have the joy of working with her again,” said Leslie Mozingo, owner and CEO of Strategics Consulting.
 
In 1992, Amy left DC and moved west to Oregon where she continued her career in public affairs with jobs in the state transportation department and with a regional government, working on parks and open spaces issues. Most recently, Amy was the Executive Director of a nonprofit advocating for and supporting women with ovarian cancer.

Amy grew up in Broward County, FL and earned BA in Public Policy from Duke University in Durham, NC.

On Thursday, November 2, 2017, Leslie Mozingo, Strategics Consulting’s owner and CEO, will be presenting on Best Practices in Grantsmanship to the North Carolina Chapter of the Grants Professional Association during a workshop in Charlotte, NC.  

Specifically, Leslie will share her expertise on understanding the federal funding process as it relates to competing for federal grants.

The North Carolina chapter of Grants Professional Association (GPA) is comprised of grant professionals from across the state working in a variety of sectors, including local and state government, education, and healthcare. The chapter is working to grow grantsmanship in North Carolina and is committed to carrying out GPA’s mission to serve the greater public good by practicing the highest ethical and professional standards.
